The Clan Of Assassins (殺し屋一族 Koroshiya Ichizoku), is a vaguely defined organization from Danganronpa: Togami, and retroactively from Danganronpa Kirigiri and Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Due to the limited amount of information and concrete details, not much is known for sure about the group, and is cause of debate and speculation.

Known Details[]

The Clan Of Assassins seem to be an international group (or a group that any nationality can join), comprised of an assortment of different people that take on jobs to kill people or destroy objects for money. Clients usually seem to hire an assassin using their phone number. It is unknown how those are distributed, or how the operations work.

The Clan seem to be the very antithesis of the Detective Library, in being they create crimes instead of solve them, and infighting instead of working together, acting more akin to rivals fighting to be the one to get the target.

History[]

Kuchinashi Village Fire[]

This was Suzuhiko's first official job as a hitman, approximately 10 years before the Legacy Crown Championship, at approximately 16 years of age, which helped him be scouted as the Super High School Level Hitman. Suzuhiko carried it out so well that he ended up overdoing it. He sliced everything in the town in half, including the buildings, bridges, streetlights, men, women, children, elderly, the mayor who was hiding in his personal vault, the mayor’s mistress who tried to flee to a neighboring town in her car. Suzuhiko, unsatisfied, then set it all on fire.

However he had missed one boy, to which Suzuhiko's younger sister (whom he had been forced to babysit at the time) found in the rain between some buildings, outstretching her left hand to him. Suzuhiko was shocked to see that what should have been his magnum opus of a job had been undercut. The boy was then adopted as part of the family.

In the years following the truth of the case was lost (becoming a cold-case), such as if one were to search the Internet for “The Case of the Kuchinashi Village Fire”, one could find any number of theories, including a terrorist plot, a government conspiracy, a military strategic experiment, the sudden onset of an infectious disease, and other cover up stories, clouding the truth. The reason of this being the Togami Family wanted it to be covered up, and they do not keep the true information in their own library either.

Ironically, the actual truth may be that given the nature of the K2K System, even this "true" information may be a forgery as well.

Legacy Crown Championship[]

While in one account of the Legacy Crown Championship, Suzuhiko had been a part of it, there was no involvement with the clan. However, the seeming antithesis and rivals to the clan, the Detective Library, was involved with the case, as well as the Togami Family. However, given the K2K System's nature, this could very well be false as well.

First Battle Of The New Duel Noir Challenge[]

Given Rei's success in solving cases high-profile, like the Zodiac Killer murders, which were a cold case up until that point, it attracted the attention of not only those who wished to capture him for use of his intelligence, but also those who wished to assassinate him to prevent him from being used against them, thus requiring the need to hire assassins to take care of him.

On January 10th, Copycat, Night Flyer and Tsurugi Hitomoshi accepted the contract to kill Rei Mikagami, and were given the information that he was to be seen at Meyura Station's rooftop at 4PM. As such, each of those three went to the station to carry out their missions, albeit in different ways. Copycat, who preferred to scout out her target first, was making her through the crowd. Night Flyer stole a guard's uniform to blend in as an employee and would commit arson to get people to leave the building so he could try to kill Rei undetected. As for Tsurugi, he would climb the side of the the nine-story building and scale upwards in order to get to the rooftop. However, in opposition to these three were Yui Samidare and Kyoko Kirigiri, alongside Licorne, who needed Rei's assistance in order to defeat the Twelve Zodiac Duel Noir Challenge. Licorne informed them of the opposition these assassins would bring, alongside their descriptions, natures, and how they kill their targets. He also mentioned that they would likely not be working together, and would act more like rivals. With this information, the trio went ahead, wanting to get to Rei before the assassins could kill him.

The first assassin they ran into was Copycat, thanks to her unique appearance. The trio casually started to follow her, when she suddenly went into an employee only staircase. Yui followed her in, only for Copycat to grab her, hold her from behind and press something sharp against her throat. Licorne entered soon after, but it didn't take a long for him to strike up a conversation with her, since he knew her native tongue. Both chatter away about their taste in manga, much to Yui (who was still being held captive's) chagrin. However, before the conversation could go further, Kyoko (who had taken another entrance staircase and made her way up from below) snuck up on Copycat and handcuffed her to her own rolling suitcase. Kyoko then grabbed the suitcase and threw it down the stairwell, thus taking Copycat along with it. The assassin fell all the way down to the landing below and slammed into the wall. This left her incredibly hurt and unable to move from the ground. The trio used this opportunity to search her belongings where they found newspaper clippings about serial killers, publications of cold cases, and horde of manga and doujinshi, thus explaining how said suitcase was heavy enough to drag her down the stairwell. It's also shown the the weapon she used to hold Yui hostage was a fountain pen.

Knowing Copycat's methods, Licorne deduces she was merely scouting for Rei Mikagami and wasn't planning to kill once she found him, which relieves Yui. When Licorne asks if he should finish off Coypcat, Yui objects and reminds him that wasn't what they came here for. He stares at her but doesn't object. Kyoko's investigation says that while Copycat didn't know Rei's identity, she did know he was to appear at Meyura Station at four. With only five minutes until then, Kyoko took back her handcuffs and and trio continued onward, leaving the defeated Copycat on the stairwell.

As they continued on, they heard the fire alarm rang and that a fire broke out on the restaurant floor, thus causing civilians to run for the exits. However, Night Flyer noticed Kyoko Kirigiri, Yui Samidare and Licorne heading towards the employee stairwell, and tried to order them to turn back. Yui was willing to leave, having been fooled, but Kyoko and Licorne immediately caught onto the fact that he was an enemy. Yui tried to get them to go, but Flyer soon grew impatient and thought they deserved 'a penalty'. Pulling out his gun, he was prepared to fire when Licorne threw his umbrella and had the tip of it get stuck into Flyer's gun, effectively jamming it. As Flyer tried to pull it out, Licorne then snuck up on him and broke his right arm.

Screaming in agony, Flyer collapsed onto the floor where Licorne placed a foot on the back of his neck. Taking out a carbon steel hammer, Licorne was prepared to attack when Yui stopped him to ask what he planned on doing. Licorne's response was that he was just going to smash his eyes, throat and fingers to prevent Flyer from seeing, speaking and touching anything ever again. Yui objects to such treatment, whilst Licorne defends himself by saying he's just doing this to prevent Flyer from coming after them for revenge. Flyer shouts telling him to finish it, or else he'll fly over again and again to try to get payback. Licorne was about to oblige, but Kyoko points Flyer's gun at him to get him to comply. Licorne packs away his hammer, but to incapacitate Flyer more he breaks his other arm.

Kyoko tied up Night Flyer and got to work investigating him, thus learning that he stole the guard's uniform and presumes by his looks that he fits the bill as Night Flyer. Licorne opts to ask him directly and, while the fearful Flyer initially says no, once he sees Licorne pull his hammer out again, backpedals into confirming his identity. With the second assassin defeated, the trio continues onward towards the roof.

Once at the rooftop, they see agents of the Chinese and Russians army dead on the ground, after having their necks snapped. During their investigation, Yui noticed a movement from the near the side of the building. As she approached the fence, Tsurugi thought it was the best to spring his trap and revealed himself, easily tearing through the fence with his fingers and approached the trio. Thus, making it obvious that he killed the agents. Kyoko takes aim with her gun, but before she could fire, Tsurugi charges at her, knocking her to the ground and sending the gun onto a nearby water tank. He rushed towards Yui and clamped his hands around her throat. Before he could kill her, Kyoko smacked him in the back of the head with a nearby sign. He bled, but didn't flinch as he released Yui and grabbed Kyoko by the throat.

Before he could kill her, Licorne tossed his jacket into his face and goaded him into coming at him. Tossing Kyoko aside, Tsurugi charged at him. However, when he went to grab Licorne, he wrapped his tie around Tsurugi's right arm. Due to the thin wire inside the tie, Tsurugi couldn't break free of it and moving it more just caused it to bleed further. Still, Tsurugi pressed on and Licorne was only barely able to dodge his left arm. Finally, Tsurugi cornered Licorne.

Right before he attacked, Tsurugi asked Licorne his name before he killed him. It was then that Licorne revealed that he was Rei Mikagami. Considering himself lucky, Tsurugi reeled back with the intent to kill Licorne with one punch, but suddenly collapsed unconscious. The wire that had cut into him was also laced with poison. Licorne deduces that with his muscular body, Tsurugi wouldn't die, but he would be rendered unconscious and unable to move for a short period of time.

Later on, after it was revealed that Licorne was Rei Mikagami himself, he suspects that one or all of the assassins that came after him was hired by Gekka Ryūzōji and that since they were still alive, they would report back to Gekka on their findings. This implies that, despite their injuries, all three would still have the skill and strength to be able to able to escape Meyura Station even as authorities would surround the building after getting reports of the fire that Flyer started.

Operation: Global Locked Room Transformation[]

Suzuhiko entered the Czech Republic, where he would find other Clan members who had likely been called there prior to the World Domination Proclamation by an unknown contact, in order to gain the reward. This resulted in infighting between the group that Suzuhiko joined in on. Suzuhiko managed to subdue them, or possibly kill them even, with a rice cooker. Suzuhiko would then go into hiding at Cesky raj, where Operation: Global Locked Room Transformation took place, until he would emerge to fulfill his job at Dretsky's Island. Within that time he received a phone call from Byakuya Togami, mentioning the clan.

World Domination Proclamation[]

After emerging at Dretsky's Island, Suzuhiko would then enter the World Domination Proclamation in the hunt for Byakuya Togami. First of all, he cut everything on the island clean in half except for a few survivors, and tore apart a bundle of paper that was supposedly the "Despair Novel", before being chased away. It is around this time he mentions his and Tsurugi's involvement with the clan.

Later on, when the World Health Organization started getting involved, a group of assassins (likely the three who went after Rei), were caught up in the crowd of WDP protesters. They were unable to reach their target as a result of the crowd of people that were now infected with the Despair Disease. It's unknown if they were also killed during the WHO's slaughter of the villagers, though its possible.

Once Byakuya was captured by the WHO, Suzuhiko disrupts the train they were on, and stands off against his siblings Shinobu and Kazuya, after taking out the Hasegawa Research Institute and a huge chunk of WHO & United Nations soldiers. Shinobu evades him and flees, and so Suzuhiko pairs off with Kazuya for the time being. A few hours later they manage to find themselves all together once more. Before long Suzuhiko is attacked by none other then the serial killer Genocide Jack, before being shot to death by Yuika Ketōin, promptly ending further mentions of the Clans involvement in the WDP.

Killing School Life[]

During the Killing School Life, Celestia Ludenberg confides in Makoto Naegi about a special organization she pays to kill anyone she doesn't like. It is possible this might be referencing the Clan of Assassins.

In Danganronpa IF, Mukuro Ikusaba mentions three Assassins attacked her once during her Fenrir days. It is possible this might be referencing the Clan of Assassins.
