People are only willing to see the reality they want to see. No matter how convincing a certain argument is, as long as people are unwilling to accept it, they can't understand the meaning of it. This pathology is similar to the story in Don Quixote.

Danganronpa: Togami

K is a supporting character featured in Danganronpa: Togami. K is a former alumnus of Hope's Peak Academy that was later recruited by The Steering Committee in order to work on its Bible Plan, before going to create the artificial eye that Blue Ink uses: Borges. His character is heavily implied to be the real world person Milan Kundera; as such this page will only document differences seen in the Danganronpa version of Milan named 'K'.

Talent[]

While its unknown what title K held during his time at Hope's Peak Academy, given that he was apart of a group of researchers with writing-based talents, it can be assumed that K specialized in something similar. This is also supported by the fact that Milan is a famous Czech author.

History[]

Prior Life[]

During his teenage years, K was talented enough to be scouted by Hope's Peak Academy into attending their school. Following his graduation, his home would be a small cabin in the middle of the woods in Prague of the Czech Republic.

Bible Plan[]

Years later, K was recruited by the Steering Committee who gathered graduates of Hope's Peak Academy that specialized in writing and pressured them into going along with the Bible Plan. The research team gathered for this split into two departments to create the Story AI: the software department (which K was made the head of) which entered data from students who had similar abilities into the AI and the data is given to the hardware department which input such thing into the automatic writing system. Thus, the Story AI was created. This Story AI was created as a way to try and make the idea of a book that can be the ideal read for everyone, since humans are varied species of many tastes, wouldn't be able to create a book that can accomplish that goal.

However, the problem was that the Story AI had written something akin to the Bible and it was found that it was too similar to it, with the Story AI lacking the creativity to create something truly original. As a result, the Steering Committee scrapped the project. Though, even with the Bible Plan being scrapped, the research team responsible for the Story AI was fascinated with it. They found that the Story AI was a master of fiction techniques and when fed information from stories of any nature, it can create stories from different points of views and even different scenarios. It could even do screenplays and comic books. As a result of this ability, it was re-named to the K2K System and the research team continued to push on with what it could do.

Unfortunately, the K2K system would later become the center of the of a tragedy amongst the team. One day, the system recommended a story to a certain researcher and they snapped, killing half of the research team and stealing the data of what the K2K System showed him before disappearing. After that incident, the Steering Committee tried to freeze the research of the K2K System and seize it, but due to distrust over the intentions of the school's administration, K took the K2K System instead.

It was not long after the Legacy Crown Championship that K was approached by an insider of the Togami Corporation and requested that he write a dictionary for them (though what they were after was learning about the Bible Plan's methods). By then 'K' had created Borges and it had the K2K System updated to version 2.3 within it, but he had needed to hide it. As such, in exchange for a hiding place for his creation, he agrees to write such a dictionary before inserting Borges into its new host, Blue Ink.

World Domination Proclamation[]

Being in Prague at the time, K was aware of the events of the World Domination Proclamation. When Blue Ink had lost her Borges and had managed to get to his cabin, he welcomed her in. From there he explained his role and the history behind the Bible Plan and how Blue Ink acquired Borges, as well as why even without Borges she still sees unreality (mainly its to slowly get her used to reality so that it doesn't break her). When the explanations were done, K did his best to try and keep Ink from having a mental breakdown (since she was deeply upset after learning how much the system had altered her percepetion of reality). He did this by giving her analogies to help understand her position better. These analogies involved bringing up the Rhinogradentia and comparing them with the Dodo, both technically extinct species, but the latter is believed to be real whilst the others isn't His argument boils down to essentially explaining to her how humanity believes what it wants to believes, regardless if reality matches up with what they percieve.

As such, Ink finally understands how much her obsession with Byakuya has lead her to distort the world, albeit unconsciously, with her Borges. This explanation had given Ink a firmer resolve and a desire to see the truth with her own eye. However, following a statement from K on how he believed that the Despair Novel is probably a fabrication from Despair High School, K's cabin is suddenly attacked by a hail of bullets, which begins wrecking K's home (much to his dismay) Following taking cover, K escorts Blue Ink to his garage and allows her to take his old Skoda car. He's well aware that the enemy is likely after Blue Ink only and he should be safe after they leave. In addition, he admits that leaving wasn't an option since he was off the radar. Blue Ink thanks K as she prepares to leave, which causes the old man to be somewhat surprised (he had expected her to be resentful of him given the circumstances). Ink admits that while her perception was warped, she was glad to see the fantasy Borges gave her. In turn, K wishes that Ink will see good times ahead. The final question Ink has for K is asking what author he was talking about during his explanation concerning Borges. K says it was Milan Kundera, which get Ink to wonder if its possible that was K's true identity. With no more time to spare, she drives away from K's residence, followed by the enemy (though in the process destroying K's garage door on the way out and causing K to shout). Like K predicted, once the enemy followed Blue Ink, he would be safe.

Appearance[]

K is an elderly man wearing a black hat with a black coat, in addition to having grey hair. Blue Ink also notes he has blue eyes.

Personality[]

Throughout his discussion with Blue Ink, K comes across as stern, yet patient and wise old man that's willing to explain the machinations behind the projects he participated in. While straightforward in his explanation, and more than willing to break them down with metaphors, K is also quite blunt in his approach to talking with Blue Ink, if only to get her to see the truth or take some form of responsibility for how she used Borges (for example, by reminding Blue Ink that Byakuya was human and fated to die someday). Given his background of having a presumed writing based talent, K is well versed in terms of literature and is comfortable in using various details from novels in order to prove his point or disapprove Blue Ink's line of thinking.

While pressured by the Steering Committee into being apart of the Bible Plan and regretful of the chaos caused by the K2K System, K is still proud of the Story AI that he and his team worked on. He was protective of it enough that he didn't want to destroy it, despite the tragedy that unfolded from the researcher going insane from its influence and was desperate enough to hide it that he agreed to have it installed into Blue Ink. Still, K does care for Blue Ink enough to give her an eyepatch following the removal of Borges and genuinely wishes that Ink will find good times in her future. He reacts with anger and dismay upon having his home shot to into by the attacking forces, but given that he was more focused on correcting Ink at the start of the attack over what gun was being used on them, it could be said K has some difficulty on focusing his priorities.

Trivia[]

  • K's alias, according to himself, mainly comes from the word KLAMM, a word used by the public to describe the Secreteriat of the Czech Republic, claiming the word itself meaning 'fraud'.
  • They are one of the few guest characters that appear in Danganronpa that is not from the Kagami Family Saga. The only others being the Rhinogradentia, Norman and the Kōhei Matsudaira.
